Diesel soot in the air is bad for your health. It can cause breathing problems, heart issues, cancer, and harm to children's lungs.
The Parkrose-Argay Opportunity Coalition wants a better plan for the old K Mart site. We want a safe and healthy place for our kids to grow up, a community that is easy to walk and bike around, and development that brings success and togetherness to our community instead of causing problems and polluting our air.
Join the over 6,000 people who have signed our petition to tell City Hall that we do not want a freight distribution warehouse in our neighborhood!
Our concerns about the proposed Prologis Distribution Center at NE 122nd and Sandy: Air Pollution, Traffic, and Pedestrian Safety at Risk.
Building a freight warehouse on 122nd and Sandy, immediately next to (15 feet from) apartments and across the street from the high school, will increase air pollution, add heavy truck traffic, and endanger pedestrians on an already busy street.
We demand what other Portland neighborhoods have:
Simply put, we want a good environment for our children to grow and be healthy. We want a community where walking or riding a bike is easy. We want development that brings success and unity to the community instead of harming it and polluting the air. We don't want our area to be turned into an industrial zone. Our children, older adults, families, and all residents deserve something better than that.

“Proudly, our community is filled with underrepresented and lower-income minorities who would be heavily affected….”
